Zombadings, a great movie with a very funny and entertaining atmosphere. It has the ability to crack a joke in the big screen without actually hurting someone else's feelings.  The movies ability to make so many jokes that are still appropriate for the audience and also have the ability to maintain its story line while still doing all the jokes and shenanigans.

Our story begins with Remington when he was a child. He teased an old person who is actually gay. The old man who is actually gay cursed Remington for teasing him. The curse was that Remington would turn gay on his 21st birthday.  In the movie, we follow a 20 years old Remington struggling to control himself from turning gay. He had to cover up so many times so that the girl he loved won’t figure out at the same time trying not to have feelings for his male best friend. The way he’s trying to fight his feelings and trying so hard so that his crush won’t figure out that he’s gay was so well played. Not only that, he was also trying to hide from a serial killer who is just hunting gay people.

The storyline of the movie was already great however; they also included zombies to the equation. These zombies are not ordinary zombies; they are the killed gay people. Whosoever gets bitten by these zombies will turn gay as well. The way that they inserted the zombies in the film was so smooth that you will actually see the connection of the serial killers action to the rising of the zombies.

In the end, Remington had to face the killer. The killer has a weapon that has the ability to detect a gay person. Not only that, the weapon can shoot lasers that can burn the person. He eventually won the confrontation but the curse wasn’t broken. His father sacrificed himself so that Remington would not be gay. It was a happy ending for everyone even for his father that was understood by his mother.

All in all, I would say it was a great movie. The way how they showed Remington’s situation and how they solved the solution was amazing. The actors also did a great job playing their characters.

The Aspiring Author

Kerima Polotan Tuvera

Born on the 16^th of December 1925, Kerima Plotan Tuvera was an award winning Filipinofiction writer, essayist, and also a journalist. A few numbers of her stories was pseudonym under the name of “Patricia S. Torres.”

She was born in Jolo, Sulu. Her christened name was Putli Kerima (where Putli means princess). Her mother teaches home economics and her father was an army colonel. Because of her father’s frequent re assignments, she lived in various places and studied at different schools.

She graduated from the Far Eastern university Girl’s High School. In, 1944, she decided to enroll at the University of the Philippines School of nursing, however,  the battle of manila put a halt to her studies. In 1945, she continued her studies at the Arellano University. She attended the class of Teodoro M. Locsin. She edited her first issue of the Arellano Literary Review. She worked with Your Magazine, This week and The Junior Red Cross Magazine.

She has received many awards because of her literary skills. For example, her 1952 short story, The Virgin, won two first prizes: of the Philippines Free Press Litarary Awards and of the Palanca Awards. She also edited an anthology for the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, with English and Tagalog prize – winning short stories from 1951 to 1952. In addition to her rewards, her stories, The Trap, The Giants, The Tourists, The Sounds of Sunday, and A Various Season all won 1^st prizes of the Palanca awards.

Her awards shows and proves not only in our country, but also in the world that she is one of the best artists in our time. She never gave up and just went on doing what she loves to do and practiced and homed in on her talents. I can proudly say that she is part of our country’s greatest artist.

I remember when I fell in love. It was like a dream. I remember this person walking into the front door and also walking into my life.  I have learned a lot from my past experience. The way that person treated me and also how broken I was after we were done. I honestly didn’t know. Why did it happen? Why did this happen to me? And how could I have ever known?

It was amazing until it lasted. The walks on the beach, the endless talks we had, and the way this person treated me.  Love sometimes takes you by surprise, you’ll fall for someone who you least expect it. It all began with one hello, we talked and chatted, we became friends. He started coming over to my house every single day, and I admit, I really liked his company. Then his visits became longer than usual, he would stay at my house for a longer period of time and we would just talk about anything under the sun that would interest us. Those times were amazing, we would just laugh our way through our lives not worrying about anything, and sometimes we would even play the piano together. But everything has an end, even how much you want it to stay.

I didn’t even know, he didn’t tell me. He was an engaged man, I was a mistress, and I can’t believe I stepped down on that level, but yet I still love that person so much. It was up to me to make a choice, I chose to leave, and I needed to be back at my home town anyways, so there’s really no point in staying. Still, I still think about how we could have been. I still think to myself, would I be happier if he stayed beside me?  Or is this for the best? Those questions still lingers in my mind, and they grow even louder each time I think of that person, But I guess it is better to love and have lost than to never had loved at all. 

Blog # 9 The origins of ice cream

Ice cream, we treat this food as a snack or desert, which ever you prefer. Ice cream has been part of our lives and gives it more flavor than we could ever imagine. It has vast numbers of flavors and different designs to satisfy not only our hunger and cravings, but also it looks appealing to our eyes, making it more appetizing. A lot of us have eaten a lot of ice cream in our lives and yet we don’t even know the desert’s origin.

Not much is known about the origin of this delectable desert; the only thing known about its history is that it reaches back as far as second century B.C. With no specific date or inventor. However, it is known the Alexander the Great enjoyed ice and snow flavored with nectar and honey. Biblical references also state that King Solomon was fond of iced drinks during harvesting.  During the Roman Empire, Nero Claudius Caesar (A.D. 54-86) frequently sent runners into the mountains for snow, which was then flavored with fruits and juices.

After a thousand years later, Marco Polo returned to Italy from the Far East bringing with him recipes that closely resemble that to a sherbet. Some historians say that the recipe for our ice cream today originated from this recipe. In the 1800, ice cream was still very much just for the aristocrats and people with higher rankings until insulated ice houses are invented. In 1851, manufacturing ice creams was started by a Baltimore milk dealer named Jacob Fussell. With the help of the advancement of technology, this sweet flavored desert became more known to us as it reaches stores all around the world with the help of the advancements of cars and trucks as transportation. Refrigerating   systems helps preserve the tasty desert and making it lasts longer in the stores as a stock or for later consumption for us.

Ice creams has gone through a lot of challenges to get where it is now, but it is no doubt that it is one of the most delicious desert ever known for mankind.

SoM week is a very memorable event for all the AC, BM, and Tourism students. It is a event that celebrates this particular school of studies. Many events has taken place from this very special week, games, sports, music, and it all ends with a party. It was a very memorable event because we got to know our fellow student in the different blocks and schools, and  also we got to experience our first SoM week for us freshmen.

The SoM week has been a very memorable week for all of us, not only because of the lesser number of classes, but also with all of the memorable events that has happen during this week. It all started with a fun walk. Most of the students participated in the walk and eve though some of us find it hard, I still think that it was a great way to start of the week because it symbolizes of how proud the SoM students are and that they are not afraid to show it. The way the students proudly showed how proud they were while walking down the Magallanes street was very heart warming. After the walk around magallanes st., we all witnessed the amazing dance group of our school and their breathtaking perofrmance. We have also witnessed our beautiful and handsome contestants for the Mr. and Ms. SoM. Yes, the beginning of the week was very exciting and full of life and excitement, but the rest of the week was also very exciting. seminars, games, olympics, and bands performance happened all around the APC campus. This is surely an event to remember and I cant wait for the next SoM week with new events to happen. The rest of the week was filled with plentyful events such as the olympics, seminars, band music, and the pageant for Mr. and Ms. SoM. The entire week was full of joy and excitement and i hope that the next event will also be as exciting as this one.

Anti Smoking Campaign In Asia Pacific College

Smoking can cause many health problems in our body, especially in our respiratory system. It may cause many complications in our lungs and our passage way where the air pass through. It may cause lung cancer or give the person asthma, and if the person already has asthma, It can worsen the condition.

A cigarette is a small cylinder of finely cut tobacco leaves rolled in thin paper for smoking. The cigarette is ignited at one end and allowed to smolders; its smoke is inhaled from the other end, which is held in or to the mouth; in some cases, a cigarette holder may be used, as well. Most modern manufactured cigarettes are filtered and also include reconstituted tobacco and other additives. Cigarette is the item usually used by smokers and the reason why smokers always use this is because it contains a chemical called nicotine. Nicotine is the reason why smokers get addicted in smoking cigarettes. The smoke created by this material and toxic enough to be compared from the smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe of a car. I am not saying smoking is all that bad, sometimes smoking can help you relax when you're stressed, but there are times someone is going over the limit. A person should only smoke at least every other day because if they smoke continually, it will cause a lot of complications on their respiratory system, especially in their lungs. 

It is a great thing that Asia Pacific College is taking one step further in preventing smoking. It helps the students to have a more healthy lifestyle and it can also help clean the environment because it helps lessen the toxic chemicals that are found from all around the world caused by lit cigars. Also, there are benefits if one stops smoking. One of the benefits is that they would live a more healthy lifestyle because the toxins that they take in from the cigarettes is reduced and the body will begin the process of cleaning and refreshing and also removing the toxins gained from smoking from cigars. This would result in a more healthy body and help prevent the cause of lung cancer which is a very lethal illness. Another advantage is that it can help them save more because a single pack of cigarette can cost 30 pesos and above. imagine if you stop smoking and that 30 pesos can be your lunch, breakfast, or dinner for the day. There are a lot of reasons and advantages when you stop or don't smoke cigarettes, it can help you have a healthy lifestyle and as well as a healthy body. And if you find your self to be a smoker you should consider to lessen the number of sticks you smoke everyday to prevent worsening the risk of having complications.

Parasyte the Movie

Parasyte the Movie is a movie directed by Takashi Yamazaki and was based on the anime called "Parasyte the Maxim."  This movie is an impressive live action adaptation from the anime, "Parasyte the Maxim," and also a great action movie with great drama and story line.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This movie is great for an action film because of it's stunning graphics and acting of the actors as well as the great animation. the characters also has a very strong character building in which they explain a lot of each important character in the movie and also their roll in the film. Although the movie is stepping away from the original anime, it still delivered the flow of the story efficiently enough to explain what is the problem and situation and how the protagonists handles those stressful times.  The movie is also consists of any plot twist and thrilling moments. For example, Parasyte a taking over

Shinichi's mother as a new hosts when Mugi and Shinichi killed of his original host. their fight scenes are also good especially in scenes of the school battle and in the final fight against the Parasyte A. If I am going to comment on the visual effects of the movie, I would say they have good visual and graphics but it can still have a little more of improvement. The parasytes still look like the original version of the anime, but it wouldn't hurt if they are going to make them a little more realistic and live full. And if I am going to comment on how the directing happened in them movie, I would say they have made a very great job. the way how the transitions of scenes to another is very smooth and that no one will ask questions about the next scene because everything is explained from the previous one.

 

All in all, I would say Parasyte is a great movie and has a meaningful story. The way they ended the movie is so great and cliffhanging that it would compel you to watch the second part even more because there are still things that hasn't been answered.

Turn Left, Turn Right

Turn Left, Turn Right, a wonderful movie and because it has romance and suspense, especially suspense, because the two lovers don't always see each other but they still go the same way and same place everyday and are often only a few feet away from each other. The movie is a story love story of two people who are classmates back when they were still in grade school and only blossomed when they grew up. The movie was also very romantic because of the way they treat each other. They are often clumsy and always stumble and fall and also have accidents happen around them.

I find the movie very funny and also super entertaining. The way the lovers try their best to find one another once more is very romantic and how they miss each other. At the same time, the movie will also cause irritation and will leave you saying and screaming, "They are so close to each other!" because they always miss their chance in meeting each other once again even if they are already laying down side by side in the hospital. You will also feel sad for the two people that feel in love with them, even if in the beginning you will hate them. at first they are annoying because they are doing anything they can just to separate those two, but in the end, they turned out to be just broken hearted people who just wanted to be loved back, but don't worry, they became boyfriend and girlfriends in the end. And for the two protagonists, they also had their own happy ending, even if it had to be an earthquake that caused them to see each other once again, and right before they leave each other for their jobs, destiny has it's eyes on those two in making a very special ending where they finally see each other and become a couple.

Mars, it's a very mysterious planet, and we all want to know if the the planet is capable of sustaining life. 

Many scientists believes that Mars once had oceans of liquid water on it's surface a long time ago. The only problem now is the question, "where is it now?" Liquid water is considered to be one of the most basic components so that complex life forms can survive in a planet. Water provides important minerals that can help a living creature to survive. For example: It can help distribute calcium and magnesium through out the entire body. 

How can a planet be a candidate for extra-terrestrial life? It has to follow many set of rules and qualifications but the most important qualification is that it has to be located in the "Goldilocks Zone."

This zone is a location in a solar system where the distance of the planet away from the sun is not too close to the point of incineration, and it's also no to far that the entire surface of the planet will be covered by ice. Mars is located near the Goldilocks zone saying that this planet is a likely candidate for complex life forms.

 

The recent discovery of flowing water on the martian surface indicates that there is hope that life can still survive on the red planet even if it's just bacterial lifeforms. But the discovery itself is a ground breaking discovery. To think that a planet with a very thin atmosphere is able to maintain liquid water is big news. All in all, i would like to say that the new evidence of flowing water on the martian surface is indeed an important discovery in our solar system. This discovery tells us that mars can still be transformed into a life supporting terrestrial body and has a chance of redeeming his past glory as a candidate for life in our universe.

Heneral Luna a film by Jerrold Talog

I had a great time watching this film, simply because of the whimsical and comedic characteristic of Heneral Luna and his men, and also about how the movie thought us how to defend our country.

I was amazed when I saw the film. The writers and directors created a wonderful storyline for heneral Luna and his men. They stood together in front of the enemy with no fear and thought their fellow soldiers to never give up and to continue the fight. The movie thought me about history and reminded me of my nationalistic side. I felt pride when I was watching the movie, and I also felt proud to be a Filipino.


I even saw this meme from the internet and instantly, I laughed because I knew I felt like that when I was going home from watching the movie.

I learned so much from the movie and I would never to forget those lessons, for example: always obey artikulo uno! ( just kidding )


The movie also thought me top never give up on my friends, family, and also to never give up on my country and country men. Heneral Luna was very loyal to his friends but punishes anyone who deserves to be punished just like what happened to his brother.

Even if Heneral Luna's way of leading is very strict, it was very effective. He stopped the advance of the opposing forces of the Americans from moving in and taking over more of our territory. He's a great strategist and always finds a way to conquer and overcome his challenges.



All in all, I would proudly say that the movie was a big hit to our fellow Filipino and also across the world. It teaches us about how to become more loving to our country and to our fellow Filipinos around the world. It teaches us about real strength and courage, and most of all, to never give up and stand your ground even if you are going to stand alone. That's it for this blog and I hope you enjoyed reading.

My Own Little Introduction

Well, here we go again. Uh- I'm not really good in introducing myself so I’m just going to start a very formal introduction. Hello, I am Baymax—oops! I just had to do that, I swear I’m getting serious now. Ahem—Hi, I am your FATHER. Dang it, I just can’t help being a nerd, and I’m not talking about a smart nerd, I’m talking about comic book-loving, game-playing, anime-watching nerd.

I am Andrei Dominique T. Cuevas and I graduated from Taguig Science High School. I am now currently enrolled in Asia Pacific College as a BSA student. I was born on April 13, 1999 and please don’t ask me about my height. My interests are online games and music, especially pop rock. When listening to music I usually like to listen to it with earphones because I find it very relaxing and it would block out the noise coming from my surroundings. Also, I like playing my favorite songs on my guitar. I don’t know why but I really like playing the guitar and enjoy it very much! But unfortunately I don’t sing, simply because if I sing it would mean the end of our world as we know it!

Also, I think you should know I have a twin sister and she is my overlord, bow down to her (No, don’t. She’s the one who typed that. I don’t bow down to anyone!). Anyways, my sister and I usually kill each other for our side of the bed and how many pillows we’ll have before we sleep; unfortunately I always get the small pillow because I am weak, HA! (She wrote that again).

I always enjoy spending time with my friends and family but in reality I’m a very shy person. I’m not really sure how do blogs work and this is my first time making a blog so I’m trying to make it as funny as possible for you guys hahaha, Hope you guys enjoyed my very first blog in my life. (yes my very first blog, I’m so proud)

Life With My Twin Sister Part 1

 

People often ask me, how’s it like having a twin sister, well my friends let me tell some of the stories I had with my sister and you tell me how’s it like having a twin sister.

One day, my sister and I sister were walking home from school when suddenly a guy approached us and asked, “Is she your girlfriend?” We just stopped and looked at each other and laughed. It was very awkward and the guy looked confused and asks why we were laughing. We told him that we were siblings and he was shocked. That’s just one of the many funny experiences I had with my sister.

Another story is very embarrassing, we were going to Baguio and we were debating on what’s the spelling of the word “Tiger”. I kept saying that the spelling of the word “Tiger” is “Tigre”. As we asked our parents the spelling, I was very ashamed and slept throughout the whole trip.

Another story is called “watermelon bomb”. One day we very energetic and played around with the ice from the freezer. We were imagining that there is blizzard and we played a snow ball fight. It was very hot that summer and every ice ball we threw melted right away. As our parents arrived, we were asked to clean up our mess. After we cleaned up our mess, our parents invited us to eat watermelon with them. As we finished eating, there was a single watermelon left on the table. My parents told me to put it inside our fridge, and as I open the fridge, I didn’t notice the wet floor I was standing on and slipped. The watermelon landed intact inside our fridge but all the eggs fell from their containers and no egg was spared that day. It was like a war zone of eggs and my sister just laughed at me as I clean up the mess.

And for our last story for this blog, I can easily say that my sister almost killed me when we were kids. The story goes like this, One day I was just sitting around watching T.V. and she was playing with her dolls and tea set when suddenly I felt a very irritating itch inside my ear. So I decided to clean my ear with some cotton buds. My sister went out the room and saw a thermometer lying around. She approached me and decided to stab my ear with it! I was shocked and I felt great pain instantly. I don’t know why she did that but we were still kids and I forgave her instantly.
